IPTV EPG / TV Guide Not Showing? How to Fix It (2026)

The EPG — the electronic program guide — is the on-screen TV schedule that shows what is on now and next. A blank or wrong guide is almost always one of a few quick fixes, and the good news is your channels usually keep playing just fine while you sort it out.

What the EPG is (and why a blank guide is not a broken subscription)

The EPG (electronic program guide) is the grid of channel names, show titles, and start times you scroll through to see what is playing now and later. It is a separate layer of data from the channels themselves — the streams come from one place, the schedule information from another. That is the key thing to understand here.

So if your guide is blank, shows "No information available", or lists the wrong programs, it does not mean your subscription is broken. In nearly every case the channels still play perfectly when you tune to them — only the schedule overlay is missing. That narrows the problem down to a handful of guide-specific causes, and most of them take under a minute to fix.

Guide and channels are two different things

A missing EPG and missing channels are separate problems. If your channels themselves will not load, that is a different fix — see channels not loading, which also covers the clock issue below.

The #1 cause: a wrong device date, time, or timezone

This is the single most common reason for a broken or empty guide, and it catches almost everyone. The EPG is built entirely around timestamps, so if your device clock is wrong, the guide has nothing to line up against. A clock that is off by even a few minutes can leave the grid blank; a wrong date or timezone shifts every program to the wrong slot or wipes the guide entirely.

Check the clock before anything else

A wrong date, time, or timezone is the number-one cause of a blank or shifted EPG — and it is common on a Fire Stick or Android box that has been unplugged for a while. Always set the clock to update automatically over the network.

  1. 1Open your device Settings and find Date & time (usually under System or General).
  2. 2Turn on Automatic date & time so the clock syncs over the network (sometimes shown as "Use network-provided time").
  3. 3Confirm the time zone is set correctly for where you actually are — not a default left over from setup.
  4. 4Reopen your IPTV app and give the guide a moment to populate.

The guide has not downloaded yet — let it load or force a refresh

EPG data is downloaded separately from your channels, and for a full lineup it can be a large file. On a fresh install, right after adding a playlist, or after the app has been closed for a while, the guide may simply not have finished loading yet. It often arrives a minute or two after the channels do.

Give it a minute, then refresh

If everything else looks right, the guide frequently just needs time to download. Wait a couple of minutes, then force an EPG update to pull a fresh copy on demand rather than waiting for the next scheduled sync.

  • In TiviMate, open Settings > EPG and choose Update EPG to force a fresh download.
  • In IPTV Smarters / Smarters Pro, the simplest refresh is to log out of the profile and log back in with your original details — it re-pulls the guide on the way back in.
  • In other apps, look for an Update EPG, Refresh guide, or Reload option in the EPG or account settings.

Wrong or missing EPG source / URL

If the guide stays empty even after a refresh and your clock is correct, the app may not have a working EPG source pointed at your channels. With most apps this is handled for you automatically from your login, so before adding anything manually, make sure you are using the right details from the setup guide.

  1. 1

    TiviMate

When you add a playlist with your Xtream Codes login (username, password, and server URL), TiviMate normally pulls the matching EPG automatically — you should not need a separate guide URL. If the guide is still empty, open Settings > EPG, confirm a source is listed, then tap Update EPG. If no source appears, re-add the playlist using your original login so the EPG link is recreated.

  2. 2

    IPTV Smarters / Smarters Pro

Smarters loads the guide from your Xtream login too, so the reliable fix is to log out of the profile and log back in with your exact Server URL, Username, and Password. That re-pulls a clean copy of both the channels and the EPG.

  3. 3

    Other apps

Most apps that take an Xtream Codes login fetch the EPG automatically — you rarely need to paste a separate XMLTV link. If yours offers an EPG-source field and it is empty, re-entering your login usually restores it. Only add a manual EPG URL if support specifically gives you one.

The guide is off by a few hours

If the guide is showing but every program is shifted — the show listed as "now" is actually the one that finished or starts in a couple of hours — this is a timezone offset, not a broken guide. It usually means the EPG time-shift setting in the app does not match your local timezone.

  • First, double-check your device timezone is correct (see the date and time fix above) — that fixes most shifts on its own.
  • In TiviMate, open Settings > EPG > Time shift (sometimes labelled EPG offset) and adjust it so the programs line up with the real time. Nudge it in whole-hour steps until "now" matches what is actually airing.
  • In other apps, look for an EPG offset, time-shift, or timezone option in the EPG settings and adjust by the number of hours you are out.

Match the offset to the gap

If the guide is exactly three hours ahead, shift it back three hours — the offset just realigns the schedule data to your clock. Once "now" matches what is actually on, you are done.

Provider-side outage or a stale app cache

If your clock is right, your login is correct, and a forced refresh still will not bring the guide back, the last two things to rule out are a temporary EPG outage on the server and a corrupted cache in the app.

  • Clear the app cache. On Android / Fire devices, go to Settings > Apps, select your IPTV app, and choose Clear cache. This forces a clean reload without signing you out. (Avoid Clear data unless you have your login handy, as that signs you out.)
  • Try again a little later. Guide data is regenerated periodically on the server, so a brief gap can occur during an update. If the channels still play fine but the guide is empty across every device, it is likely a short server-side EPG refresh — wait a while and it typically returns on its own.

Work through these in order — clock first, then a refresh, then the source, then the offset — and a blank or wrong guide nearly always sorts itself out in a few minutes. And remember: as long as your channels are playing, your subscription is doing its job; the guide is just the schedule layer on top.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why is my IPTV TV guide blank?

A blank guide is most often caused by a wrong device clock (the EPG is built around timestamps), a guide that has not finished downloading yet, or a brief server-side EPG refresh. Set your date, time, and timezone to update automatically, force an EPG update, and give it a minute. Your channels normally keep playing the whole time.

How do I add or refresh the EPG in TiviMate?

In TiviMate the EPG is usually pulled automatically from your Xtream Codes login, so you rarely add it by hand. To refresh it, open Settings > EPG and choose Update EPG. If no source is listed, re-add your playlist with your original login details so the EPG link is recreated.

Why is my EPG off by a few hours?

A guide that is shifted by a fixed number of hours is a timezone offset, not a fault. First confirm your device timezone is correct; if it still drifts, adjust the EPG time-shift (or EPG offset) setting in your app by the number of hours you are out, in whole-hour steps, until "now" matches what is actually airing.

Does the EPG cost extra?

No. The program guide is part of the service and loads automatically from your login at no additional cost. If it is missing, it is a settings or refresh issue on the app or device side, not something you need to pay to unlock.

My channels work but the guide is empty — is my subscription OK?

Yes. The channels and the EPG are two separate layers of data. If your channels play normally, your subscription is active and working — only the schedule overlay is missing. That points to a clock, refresh, or source setting rather than a billing problem.

How do I force an EPG update?

In TiviMate, open Settings > EPG and tap Update EPG. In IPTV Smarters, log out of the profile and log back in with your exact Server URL, Username, and Password to re-pull the guide. Other apps offer an Update EPG, Refresh guide, or Reload option in the EPG settings.
